Mary Huston McLendon is a retired healthcare consultant and teacher. She and her husband, Dana, live in Franklin, Tennessee, and just celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mary Huston enjoys writing poetry, working all kinds of puzzles, reading, and spending time with their two adult children and five grandchildren. Mary Huston has an undergraduate degree in English, a Master of Business Administration, and a second masters in Healthcare Administration. Mary Huston was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1996.

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease almost 2 decades ago, Mary Huston McLendon relates how her experiences prior to PD helped prepare her for the resulting physical limitations and mental stress. Her riveting account of the path she took will inspire those struggling with PD, but her book also will appeal to a much broader audience. She recounts an unusually wide range of interesting experiences—including accounts of her idyllic childhood on a Middle Tennessee farm, serving as national president of CAR (Children of the American Revolution), attending college and graduate school, and very successful career as a school teacher and health care consultant. The general message is that in facing life’s trials everyone can benefit from the approach she chose—by playing an active role in exploring alternative courses of action to cope with adversity and being actively involved in the course of action taken. Finally, Mary Huston provides a heart-warming account of how her loving and supportive family helped her cope with the ravages of PD at every step of her journey.

Everybody Has a Window and an Aisle Seat is a book that is a must read for anyone with a Parkinson's diagnosis and for there family. There are life lessons embedded in the narrative and stories written by an author who
was diagnosed with Parkinson's nineteen
years ago. It is an inspirational book of
courage, grace, and perseverance. When I
started reading I couldn't put it down. It's a
Five Star for sure.
