seemed like miles and miles of paper and countless hours on ...

I wish I'd had this book when my husband died suddenly. The first year was a complete blur, seemed like miles and miles of paper and countless hours on the phone trying to get advice, and being taken advantage of by the attorney who handled the legal side of it. New widows are popular targets of financial rip offs and scams and this book would have saved me a lot of anguish and money. It would be nice for women to read it before they are widowed, as a window into what to expect should the unthinkable happen. I will be giving it to my friends as a gift.

This book belongs on everyone's shelf!

Liz Swiertz Newman's new book is a must read! It's been a five years since my mom passed away and longer for my dad. Still, I found the book held true for much of what my siblings and I, as her children, and I as her executor, had faced handled that first and so challenging year. It would have been a comfort as well as a help back then and is an awesome resource for anyone, but particularly a spouse, to read, and preferably, PRIOR to dealing with all the responsibilities and challenges that come during the most difficult of times.

I recommend reading this book long before you need it

As a widow myself, I recommend reading this book long before you need it. The loss of a beloved spouse is not something anyone wants to think about, but it happens. We can't prepare for the emotional whirlwind, but I would have appreciated guidance and being more prepared for the business end of suddenly finding myself widowed and suddenly responsible for everything.
