Life-changing book. I posted a longer review under Gillian's book "Ditching Diets." Both books are superb. This one's my favorite. Each time I read it the message deepens. (I purchased the UK version before the US version was available). I always knew I needed to change my perspective but didn't know *how.* This de-mystified the whole thing. Very liberating book! It's been about 6 months & every aspect of my life has benefited. Thank you Gillian. You're a Godsend, a treasure & a gift! Best wishes always.
Update: Once I de-coupled "losing weight" & "eating less" the weight loss happened by itself. Weird, right? The change is so startling that I sometimes wonder how it didn't occur to me sooner. Sure, it's been a progressive gradual process of making better life choices over several decades. However this book crystallized the whole thing. Food no longer occupies my mind. What a relief! It feels like a miracle. Overeating lost its pull. In my experience, this book describes the hidden (but now obvious) way to natural, effortless lean-ness. Who would've thought? The idea of addictive desire was also helpful, but the big take home for me is that now eating choices are based on "How good can I feel?" As in, "How does it get *even* better than this?" What a wonderful thing to explore. Although I'm eating significantly less, I feel much more fulfilled & not at all deprived. Life has opened up. Not only is "outer life" more satisfying, "inner life" (including meditation) is deeper as well. Thanks again & again, Gillian. You have a way with words & use them our advantage. Much appreciation!
Second update: I ordered Gillian's audio mp3 (available on her website) last night & it redeemed itself in less than 24 hours. I listened to it on the way home from work & immediately felt compelled to attend my favorite version of hot yoga instead of relaxing with a hearty dinner. It reminds me *why* I eat less--because it's so much fun to do what I love any time! After an awesome class, I came home, showered, ate a light meal & felt enormously satisfied. It was like hitting the reset button. I'm usually more of a morning person. But listening to Gillian's words gave me fresh energy & turned my whole evening around. It illuminated positive options & voila!--a super fun experience ensued. Imaginary concerns evaporated (you know, like appearance etc.) & I felt & continue to feel so good in my own skin! For me, Gillian's teachings go hand-in-hand with my non-duality Advaita practice. Practical stuff that goes deep. (BTW track #5 is my current favorite--#6, #7 & #10 are good pivot points for me, too). Thanks again!

If you want a new solution, buy this.

Absolutely fantastic. I've been looking for solutions to my compulsive overeating problems for almost a decade and this book is BY FAR the best thing I have read on the subject. I haven't felt so in control in YEARS.
