fascinating and informative

This is surprisingly well written. It is concise, informative and even funny at times. I have read other books on this asylum , and this one is the best of them all. The author does not have the reader get bogged down.

This great book was incredibly informative not only on the history of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, but also the history of mental illness and its care in the U.S. Very interesting read, highly recommend!!

Great read. Very well written and full of Information. Thankfully our treatment of the mentally ill has changed drastically. There are some very sad stories on this book.
