It's gotten worse over the last 5 years

I wish I could give this book 10 stars! I have osteopenia, and my doctor gave me a little pat on the shoulder and a prescription for Evista (which I didn't get filled). It's gotten worse over the last 5 years, and I had tried everything - except that prescription. When I read this book, I discovered the causes of my bone loss and many things I can do that will actually make my bones stronger!!! All this - without Evista and all those nasty side-effects. Get the book, read it, and get healthy! I've already started my journey - bloodwork, thyroid medicine change, supplements. The hard part is finding a cooperative doctor. In the book, Dr. Purser says that osteoporosis is a big ship to turn around. Well, my ship was sinking, and he gave me a lifeboat that I've named HOPE.

Dr. Purser delivers another truly informative book on a condition that I am actively trying to prevent. I have read Dr. Purser's other books and particularly like that this one not only recommends the type/dose of supplements, but also provides recommended name brands. This makes it so much easier than trying to just find a "good quality" supplement. Thank you for the information, Dr. Purser, and I can't wait for your next topic!

Lots of gems are found in this self-help text and they are well explained and defined. If I were still working as a counselor, I would have a number of copies of this book to share with clients and students.

Lancer, a lawyer turned Family Therapist has a way with words that is helpful and easy to understand.  Her definitions of guilt, blame, shame, anger and self-esteem are worth the price of ownership. Then she takes her precise definitions and uses anecdotal evidence to show their outcome and manifestations.  One does not need to guess how guilt plays out in their own relationships and actions because of her precise explanations.

The definitions and examples are accompanied by exercises that allow the reader to fully participate in their own understanding and in changing behaviors that are not leading to healthy outcomes.  The exercises on self-forgiveness are most helpful in removing sticking points and letting go.

Young people would learn and understand FREEDOM FROM GUILT AND BLAME; would find it useful to have on their shelf for future reference when they were caught in an emotional loop of behaviors. When people of all ages know and understand they can make different choices.

A very helpful book to read, reference and keep handy.  Good ideas and exercises for starting a successful New Year and making changes in one's life and behaviors.

Freedom from Guilt and Blame

Another wonderful book by Darlene. I self identified with being codependent about 15 months ago. I discovered Darlene sometime around last November. Between her books, blogs, and her Facebook pages where she posts many different articles by different authors, I have grown in ways I never would have thought possible.
I've been taking care of my dad 24/7 since last October, so even if I could afford to go to therapy, I just wouldn't have the time (I'm sure I would have to go out of town for it, I don't think we have any good therapists here). Honestly, thanks to Darlene and all she does, I seem to be coming along just fine for now. I don't think I have read ANYTHING that Darlene either hasn't written herself or recommended on her Facebook page. Even after all this time she seems to come up with things that hit home so well it's uncanny. I can't wait to read her next book coming out in October, Dealing with Narcissism I think I heard.
Thank you SO much Darlene!

A Serious Guide To Weight Loss And A Healthy Life. This is the second book I have read by the nutritionist Beran Perry about her exciting new Paleo-Keto-Epigenetic Diet System. If you have a weight or health problem you need to read this unique diet book. I have been overweight for most of my life, I love the Paleo diet, in fact I have written 8 Paleo Recipes books and have lost twenty pounds and I am currently at my perfect weight. The thing about Ms. Perry's work she has combined Keto with Paleo and included the Epigenetics. You really need to read this book to understand the power and the true uniqueness of combining these elements. Wealth of knowledge in this book!

Beran really understands what the whole Paleo movement is about with this book. She not only tells you what you need to to do to get started but embodies the very essence of living the paleo lifestyle. I think that it really makes a difference when the author of a great book like this actually has incorporated the concepts into her personal life as well.

She goes through real life hard hitting questions like why won't the weight stay off once I have lost it. This is where the science of it all comes into focus. It is all about the Keto Epigenetic issue at the center. The combination of the Paleo and Keto Epigenetic diet is the key to overcoming these issues that we have all faced in our lives.

This is a tough subject to hit and requires clear, no nonsense answers to get to the root of the issue of weight loss and gain. This is what Beran not only seeks out to do, but actually accomplishes.

She nails several myths regarding epigenetics. That really helps separate the wheat from the chaff.

She finishes up with a plethora of tasty recipes that show exactly how this can be done and in a tasty way that you can enjoy.

Great book written by the real expert who walks the talk! Just have a look at the cover and her blog.
Now about the book: very well written and full of great tips (nutrition and lifestyle). What she recommends is very similar to what I follow, I call it alkaline paleo stuff, or paleo with an alkaline touch (paleo diet with lots of veggies and non-sugary fruit, or Paleo that is more on a vegan side). Personally, I don't follow paleo full time (I like my quinoa and I am not a great meat lover) but I am very open minded when it comes to different diets. What she talks about really makes sense to me, especially if you want to lose weight. I love the fact that her Paleo style diet is not only about eating massive amounts of meat. She actually suggests a balanced paleo diet full of veggies, natural foods, good fats, some lean protein (fish and seafood are my fave), healthy nuts, no gluten, no grains, no dairy and I love the fact that she recommends only non-sugary fruit and eliminates fruit juices. This is a very important step that many people overlook. To sum up- great book, recipes and author. I agree with her 99% (it's just that I like my quinoa., other than that I can go grain-less, but fair enough, one needs to be flexible). Motivational tips + info about pilates have helped me a lot as well. I think I can take my diet to the next level with this info. BTW she is 50 but she looks like 28. Check it out. real deal!

I am very impressed with how well this book was written. It's very straight forward and makes a lot of common sense. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who's willing to make a change in their life. This book gave me the tools I needed to get back to a healthy place.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others!

It’s safe to say that the weight loss genre is packed with people claiming to have miracle cures capable of helping you lose loads of weight effortlessly. As a serial dieter I have been taken in by these claims numerous times but in the end I always wind up seeing little change which is extremely discouraging. I’ve never given up hope completely though and when I came across this book it instantly got my attention, as someone who implements the law of attraction in various other aspects of my life I found the concept of using it for weight loss fascinating. The mind is an extremely powerful tool but so few people actually utilize its full power, with nothing to lose and plenty to gain I decided to give this a try.

I’m ashamed to admit that in the past I have struggled to maintain certain diets, there are many temptations around and my sweet tooth has always been a weakness. However, following the advice and methods this book contains has really made a difference to my eating habits, I feel more motivated to stick to my goals and old cravings are a lot less intense.

For me this is what separates this guide from others, instead of just listing some healthy foods to eat it actually helps to give you the correct mind-set so that you can consciously curb your bad habits and eat healthily, best of all it doesn’t feel like you’re on a diet. Instead everything just feels natural like it’s the right thing to do.
As a result of my improved attitude towards food and diet I’ve managed to lose just over half a stone in 3 weeks. This is a significant amount considering the previous results I’ve had from other diets, looking to the future I’m now both excited and optimistic. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others, the information is presented in a clear and concise manner making it easy to understand and implement the recommendations, most importantly of all though is the fact that it works.

I decided to take up the challenge of losing weight in 21 days!

It's not exactly 21 days, though. Following these instructions for 21 days might help me change my lifestyle forever to a healthier one. I have failed several diet programs so honestly I did not raised that much hope for this. The first chapter made me realize an inconvenient truth, that I have not tried hard enough, that deep down I have not truly convinced that I need to lose weight. Next chapters act up to what the writer said, this book contains the common sense ways to gradually and safely lose weight. Common sense ways with new angle to look at. For example, losing weight combines with exercises. Exercises are not necessarily joining gym or running hard but just simply having more physical activities that move your body in millions of ways, like gardening or playing with the kids. This book is refreshing in its own way and definitely is worth trying.

The author continues where he left off, in Book I, with comparisons of primitive diets throughout the world. An in depth study of the controversial role that refined carbohydrates play in the common, everyday, diet. I found the chapters on vegetables to be the most interesting. The comparison of fresh, canned, frozen, conventional, organic, vegetables, and their nutritional benefits, were very useful. An excellent book on nutrition for EVERYONE!
