This is a recipe book of 99 green smoothie recipes. If you've never heard of green smoothies, the "simple" version of it is spinach (to fill you up) mixed with banana (for the taste, so it doesn't taste like spinach). Green smoothies are an easy way to cut down on your weight or detox, but the problem is that "regular" green smoothies aren't super healthy for long periods of time. On the other hand, I know of many people who mix green smoothies but they either don't taste great, or they aren't very nutritious.

What's good about this book is it has 11 recipes specifically for weight loss, 11 specifically for detoxification, for diabetics, healthy skin, energy, heart health, pregnancy, for kids, and for meal replacement. Just choose what you're trying to accomplish and mix the green smoothie that is right for you.

Full of Good Information and Great Tasting Recipes!

This is an amazing collection of green smoothie recipes that is sure to please anyone who gives them a try. So far I have just randomly picked 6 recipes and made them and they all have been delicious. This is not just a collection of recipes, it also covers the benefits of "going green." I know you may think "how can spinach, apples, and bananas taste good together?" But they do. There are recipes for weight loss, diabetes control, detoxing, skin replenishing and many more. If you'd like to get on the bandwagon with others who are enjoying more healthy smoothies that are just as delicious, start here.

Great reference tool for anyone that makes smoothies.

Lately I have been wanting to delve into this smoothie craze. My husband and I watched a documentary on the whole phenomenon and I pledged to look more into it. When I read this book I was surprised that there were so many different fruit, veggie, and herb combinations. The recipes in this book are separated by different categories like "11 Green Smoothies for Healthy Skin" and "11 Green Smoothies for Healthy Heart." I will be sure to keep this book on my kindle for easy access to these recipes when we decide to jump into making this life change.

Those are the things Rory wishes he could forget most of all.

When his car breaks down on the side of the road just out of town, a young girl named Sylvia appears from the corn fields. Sylvia is a Valkyrie sent by the Norse god Odin to deliver Rory to Valhalla. Because today is the day he’s going to die. Together, Rory and Sylvia walk back through the memories of Rory’s childhood, this time seeing them the way Joe saw them. Rory must face the Pretty Things, the Ugly Things, and all the real life in between before it’s time to say goodbye.

About the Author
Adam Smith started self-publishing comics and zines in Arkansas while still in high school. He lives and writes in Kansas City, Missouri now. Long Walk To Valhalla with Matt Fox is his first full length graphic novel.

Matt Fox was born in Connecticut and raised in Jacksonville, Arkansas. After school he moved to Little Rock and started drawing local band flyers, album art, and shirt designs. He starting self-publishing comics with Adam Smith in 2010. Long Walk to Valhalla is his first published comic.

Beautiful. Chills.

I knew what I was getting, sort of. The authors were nice enough to sign mine when I picked it up at comic con. I couldn't pass up this one based on the artwork and their promise of a self-contained and emotional story. It made me buy it, by haunting me when I returned home without it, needing to know what this unique-sounding story would be. So I got it the next day. Took it with me camping a couple weeks later and read it in a single sitting, then just sat there a while longer soaked in the feels. I knew what I was getting but not the depth of experience it would provoke.

About the Author
Dr. Andrew J. Dobo was first trained in the use of EMDR more than 14 years ago. He has treated hundreds of patients and participated in literally thousands of EMDR sessions in his private psychology practice in Sebastian, Florida. He is a licensed psychologist in Florida. Dr. Dobo is highly credentialed in the use of EMDR. He has a lifelong interest in psychology and religion. In 1977, he read a book that used Jungian theory to interpret the sayings of Jesus. John Sanford’s book The Kingdom Within changed his view of Jesus and of psychology. He has been looking at the connections between these two disciplines his entire life. He thought he had nothing new to add to the conversation until he saw that powerful changes wrought by EMDR in his clients paralleled six distinct moments that are modeled in the Christian Passion. A must read.

This narrative non-fiction book reads like fiction while it instructs. This is a wonderful book that everyone should read. It describes in simple terms how issues are born in the early part of our lives, then these experiences often stand in the way of our true path. Dr. Dobo explains how to gain insight and understanding of this process and how to change it with the powerful therapy known as EMDR. He noticed a six stage process, ironically each stage was modeled by Christ in his death and resurrection. You do not have to be a religious person to benefit from this book, but if you are it makes this journey more wondrous. Don't miss this little gem of a book.

Helpful book for anyone interested in EMDR including therapists and patients.

Includes some surprising if not shocking examples of EMDR sessions. It's an easy and intriguing read and Dr. Dobo seems like a compassionate therapist as well as an accomplished scholar. The comparison of a patient's journey through the healing of past trauma to the phases of Christ is smart and helpful. The ideas in the book pose no threat to secularists or non Christians- it just offers a helpful contextual background to understand the healing process and Dr. Dobo makes it clear he doesn't bring religion into his clinic. Overall I found this book interesting and inspiring.

About the Author
Sandra L. Foster, PhD, PCC, is a business coach and peak performance psychology expert now based in Charleston, South Carolina, after living and working in Europe for eight years. She is a licensed psychologist, a Chartered British Psychologist, and holds the International Coach Federation Professional Certified Coach Credential. She has been a College of Executive Coaching senior faculty member since 2001. She was a principal in Korn/Ferry International s Leadership & Talent Consulting group, based in London and then in Los Angeles, before returning to independent coaching and consulting practice. Her clients are executives, emerging leaders, and entrepreneurs, as well as musicians, actors, and writers. Dr. Foster received her doctorate from Stanford University and served on the faculty as acting assistant professor and consulting associate professor. She speaks internationally on performance enhancement for leaders and positive psychology in coaching. Dr. Foster is the co-author of two sport psychology books and numerous scholarly articles and book chapters. Jeffrey E. Auerbach, PhD, MCC, a licensed psychologist, is the founder of the College of Executive Coaching. He designs and delivers executive coaching programs globally. This exceptional book written by two wise exemplars in the coaching field is grounded in evidence-based research with countless practical an actionable ideas to improve the lives of the people coaches serve. Excellent balance between theory and practice!

Highly recommend Drs. Foster and Auerbach's book. As noted by another review I personally love the integration of theory and practice. The authors present data and research supporting the use of positive psychology in coaching while also providing numerous practice tips, ideas, resources, and more that executive coaches (and leaders) can easily apply. Further, while clearly advocates of positive psychology the authors include a chapter (Chapter 10) addressing some of the concerns about being overly positive, focusing too much on strengths, etc. I also appreciate how throughout the book experts have been invited to contribute and share research, opinions, impressions, etc. The book also includes practical assessments/inventories that can be used and in the Appendix Dr. Auerbach's "Well-Being Coaching Client Questionnaire."

While written for coaches as I read it seemed to me that many of the practical suggestions would not only benefit executive coaches but also leaders working to build strong and productive teams.

Being told by your doctor that you have high blood pressure is scary, since one of the first thoughts that comes to mind is “heart attack”. This book helps people with high blood pressure understand their condition in simple terms, and motivates them to make changes in their diets and lifestyles rather than simply relying on medication to make the problem disappear. The book is also written in a tone that makes the reader feel empowered – that he can be in control of his own health and well-being. The book is short enough to be read in one sitting, leaving the reader feeling encouraged and hopeful about reversing or at least improving his condition. Causes of high blood pressure are explained in short, clear chapters, and different ways of combating the problem are offered. Exercise and a nutritious diet are of course discussed, but the author also offers creative ways of making life easier while attempting to get healthier: cooking large quantities of food and freezing daily portions, using a non-stick grill instead of an oiled pan for cooking, and consuming various natural herbs as opposed to synthetic medications. There is even an interesting variety of recipes included at the end of the book, which avoid ingredients dangerous for high blood pressure. In general, this is a wonderful book for anyone to read who has decided to make life changes to combat high blood pressure, but doesn't have the time to read very long books or very complicated medical texts.

A non-BS fitness book you can actually apply to your life - excellent read

I'm often skeptical of fitness books as they often either give you hollow inspirational sayings or impractical advice on how in order to get 6 pack abs you just need to work out 8 hours a day. What I love about this book is the author creates a framework and mindset that is rooted in reality and actually implementable to your own life. The focus of the book is on how to maintain your fitness (and as a result - make yourself more productive) under the stresses and time constraints of being an entrepreneur. While the book focuses on entrepreneurs, I think the tactics in the book can apply much broader than that to anyone who has ever said "I know I should be more fit, but I don't have the time" which is something I would say constantly. By developing the proper mindset to start you create the circumstance where you will naturally make the choices that push you where you want to go - highly recommended read

The anecdotes are fun to read and easy to relate to

Peter Scott focuses and energizes his readers with several personal stories of overcoming fear. He teaches you how to identify and overcome the irrational fears that prevent all of us from being the person we have the potential to be. The anecdotes are fun to read and easy to relate to. Peter proves that personal well-being can be a key to business success. Any entrepreneur that’s stuck in a business, or personal rut, would do themselves a great service by picking up this book.

Life-changing book. I posted a longer review under Gillian's book "Ditching Diets." Both books are superb. This one's my favorite. Each time I read it the message deepens. (I purchased the UK version before the US version was available). I always knew I needed to change my perspective but didn't know *how.* This de-mystified the whole thing. Very liberating book! It's been about 6 months & every aspect of my life has benefited. Thank you Gillian. You're a Godsend, a treasure & a gift! Best wishes always.

Update: Once I de-coupled "losing weight" & "eating less" the weight loss happened by itself. Weird, right? The change is so startling that I sometimes wonder how it didn't occur to me sooner. Sure, it's been a progressive gradual process of making better life choices over several decades. However this book crystallized the whole thing. Food no longer occupies my mind. What a relief! It feels like a miracle. Overeating lost its pull. In my experience, this book describes the hidden (but now obvious) way to natural, effortless lean-ness. Who would've thought? The idea of addictive desire was also helpful, but the big take home for me is that now eating choices are based on "How good can I feel?" As in, "How does it get *even* better than this?" What a wonderful thing to explore. Although I'm eating significantly less, I feel much more fulfilled & not at all deprived. Life has opened up. Not only is "outer life" more satisfying, "inner life" (including meditation) is deeper as well. Thanks again & again, Gillian. You have a way with words & use them our advantage. Much appreciation!

Second update: I ordered Gillian's audio mp3 (available on her website) last night & it redeemed itself in less than 24 hours. I listened to it on the way home from work & immediately felt compelled to attend my favorite version of hot yoga instead of relaxing with a hearty dinner. It reminds me *why* I eat less--because it's so much fun to do what I love any time! After an awesome class, I came home, showered, ate a light meal & felt enormously satisfied. It was like hitting the reset button. I'm usually more of a morning person. But listening to Gillian's words gave me fresh energy & turned my whole evening around. It illuminated positive options & voila!--a super fun experience ensued. Imaginary concerns evaporated (you know, like appearance etc.) & I felt & continue to feel so good in my own skin! For me, Gillian's teachings go hand-in-hand with my non-duality Advaita practice. Practical stuff that goes deep. (BTW track #5 is my current favorite--#6, #7 & #10 are good pivot points for me, too). Thanks again!

If you want a new solution, buy this.

Absolutely fantastic. I've been looking for solutions to my compulsive overeating problems for almost a decade and this book is BY FAR the best thing I have read on the subject. I haven't felt so in control in YEARS.
