I bought this for my wife for helping her grow her hair longer, it has some very helpful tips on almost everything from shampooing to daily care and it tells you with great detail, I highly recommend it because it makes it clear of what to do and not just vague, quick details that you would get from other books. My wifes hair is now looking a lot healthier, now we just need to get it to grow. Good book and worth the read for anyone looking to grow long hair.

Wow, I can't believe I even paid 2.99 for this... It is literally about 11 pages long and really doesn't do anything but describe about a dozen kinds of tea. Does not give instructions for the plan, or tell you even how to use the teas. What a waste of time...

Trying to maintain a healthy body!

For the past few months I have been trying to lose few pounds by exercising and following a healthy diet. The detox tea sound so promising to lose 20 pounds in two weeks by using all natural ingredients. It is so encouraging. Having read this book I have come to know about different types of tea and their benefits. The instructions for tea cleanse plan is clearly explained and its divided into 3 easy to follow sections. The recipes are also great. Hoping to see some great results soon.

I firmly believe in herbal teas. During my teenage I remember my mom used to make hibiscus tea for my sister, to regulate her menstrual cycle. It worked like magic. Detox is something new to me but I'm interested to try. This book also provides good information about different herbs and their uses. Since I have some experience in making tea I didn't find the recipes to be difficult. I loved the morning detox tea and learned a lot about green tea benefits.

Great Way to Jump Into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet

This is a great intro to the AIP, without being overwhelming. Jamie provides some concise background info for those who need to know the "whys", but not too much for those who just want the "hows". She also provides some yummy recipes and a sample meal plan. This is a fabulous place to start if you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and just need some direction on how to start healing yourself. It is essentially a quick start guide for those who just want to start running with it without having to figure it all out themselves.

This is a great guide to get you healing your gut

I have read several books regarding Paleo and have usually ceased half way, overwhelmed and still unsure of how to approach this diet. I found Jamie's book both entertaining and extremely informative. Her words 'spoke' to me as described 'my world' on more that one occasion. Relieved was I to discover that this extreme version of the Paleo 'diet' is not a forever thing, only 30 days do I have to fully commit to the essentials, giving my gut a chance to heal before the re-introduction of perhaps still offending foods which I can then isolate, all the while enjoying loads of fresh produce that made my mouth water when reading the recipes. "Healing with Paleo" is a compelling case for anybody suffering from or wanting to prevent auto immune disorders such as Crohn's disease, ulcertive colitis, Rheumatoid Arthritis etc. The permeability of the colon (aka leaky gut) which allows food antigens to enter the blood stream, thereby triggering an autoimmune response is a fascinating process. In "Healing with Paleo" a dietary protocol is laid out which will help prevent or reverse the effects of these devastating diseases.

An enlightening take on diabetes and the paleo diet

Steve Parker, M.D. has written a great book on how a paleolithic diet can help diabetics. He shows that, like all animals, humans were meant to eat specific types of food - you don't expect a rabbit to be in good health when given meat to eat, nor a lion when given bread, so you can't expect humans to be healthy when they don't eat the right food. A paleo diet - meat eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts - can help lower blood sugars and lower the need for meds - although Dr. Parker stresses that diabetics should make changes to their diets only in consultation with their doctors. The book contains many recipes to help diabetics make the needed changes, and extensively discusses the drugs that diabetics are often prescribed.

Excellent guide for living a low-carb, paleolithic-inspired lifestyle to manage diabetes

Could returning to the foods our paleolithic ancestors consumed (or modern versions thereof) tens of thousands of years ago be used to treat diseases that are all too common today, particularly diabetes and prediabetes?

In Paleobetic Diet: Defeat Diabetes and Prediabetes with Paleolithic Eating, Dr. Steve Parker and Sunny Parker provide compelling evidence that it very well could. I'm a big fan of Dr. Parker's previous book, Conquer Diabetes and Prediabetes: The Diabetic Mediterranean Diet, as well as his website, Diabetic Mediterranean Diet. He's an expert on the Mediterranean Diet and one of a small but growing number of physicians who recommend a low-carbohydrate diet based on whole foods for people with diabetes and prediabetes. A few years ago he created another website, Paleo Diabetic, covering the beneficial aspects of a carbohydrate-restricted based on paleolithic food principles. Paleobetic Diet is an extension of that website. It's a very well-written, informative book that's easy to understand, even for those unfamiliar with paleolithic nutrition or carbohydrate restriction. Dr. Parker's writing style is professional, low key, and subtly humorous. He's also very up front about saying "I don't know" rather than engaging in conjecture or hype, which I really appreciate. His wife Sunny "served primarily as the editor, food maven, recipe mastermind, and Steve's muse."

Here are several topics addressed in Paleobetic Diet:

What did people actually eat during the paleolithic era? After introducing us to the modern "Paleo Diet" and a number of people (including doctors and other health professionals with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes) who have experienced health improvements as a result of following it, Dr. Parker discuses the foods that our ancestors subsisted on from roughly 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago, prior to the Agricultural Revolution. During this time the food of our hunter-gatherer ancestors was primarily meat, fish, nuts, roots, grasses, and berries. The omega 3 to omega 6 ratio of polyunsaturated fatty acids was about 1:1 or 1:2 versus 1:10, which is a conservative estimate of what most people currently consume. While the total carbohydrate content was low-moderate (roughly 30-40%, although some sources argue it was somewhat higher), digestible carbohydrate would have been considerably lower given the amount of fiber contained in the plant foods -- 70 or more grams, in sharp contrast to our average modern-day consumption of 20 grams or less of total fiber.

Diabetes: There's an excellent section on the root cause of diabetes and the many complications that can result from long-term uncontrolled blood glucose levels. Dr. Parker stresses that of the three macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fat), carbohydrates have by far the largest impact on blood sugar and insulin levels, and that his own experience with patients who adopt a low-carb diet is congruent with studies demonstrating its effectiveness for diabetes management.
Paleobetic Diet: Dr. Parker's Paleobetic Diet is based on low-carb ancestral foods like meat (including organ meat), fish, vegetables (primarily nonstarchy), fruit, nuts, and oils. No processed foods, dairy, or artificial sweeteners are allowed. The recommended daily carbohydrate range is 40 to 80 grams of net carbohydrates (total carbohydrates minus all fiber), with advice to aim for a lower carbohydrate amount at breakfast, when insulin resistance is typically the most severe.

There's a one-week sample meal plan to be used as a guide, along with recipes for each meal that include both imperial and metric measurements. Comprehensive nutritional information is included. The recipes are quick, simple and tasty -- much like the kind I prepare on a daily basis. Some of my favorites are the Brian Burger with Bacon, Brussels Sprouts, Tomato, and Pistachios; the Turkey Tomato Bowl; and Mexican Eggs with Avocado.

Diabetes Medications: One of Dr. Parker's goals is to help reduce the amount of medication needed to achieve optimal blood sugar control. In addition to a detailed plan for successful implementation of the Paleobetic Diet, he provides a section about all 12 classes of diabetes medications that includes their benefits, risks, and whether they have potential to cause hypoglycemia. He stresses the importance of speaking with a healthcare provider (doctor, nurse practitioner, or diabetes educator) prior to making dietary changes for those currently taking insulin or oral diabetes medications.

Paleo Eating Tips: I really enjoyed the "Daily Life with Paleo Eating" chapter, which contains guidance on shopping, cooking, cravings for sweets and other high-carbohydrate foods, and weight loss. There's also a substantial list of online resources for low-carb Paleo recipes, nutrition analysis, and support. Despite the overall simplicity that characterizes a Paleo way of eating, there are still adjustments that will likely need to be made, based on each person's particular circumstances, and this chapter is very helpful in that regard.

Exercise: Dr. Parker did a great job on the exercise section, including a subtitle declaring "Exercise Is Not Fun." (Did I mention how much I appreciate his wry sense of humor?) He gives practical tips for choosing activities that you'll stick with that provide health-related benefits. Again, he stresses consulting with your physician to obtain medical clearance before engaging in an exercise program.

Research: Here he explains that while there isn't a great deal of research on the paleolithic diet, what exists is quite promising for those looking to lose weight and improve blood glucose control and overall health. In addition to citing references, he provides detailed analyses of several studies, along with his own commentary on the results and suggestions for further research. In the final chapter, Dr. Parker discusses new theories about the cause of type 2 diabetes, which I found very interesting. There's considerable disagreement among the experts on this topic, and as a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, I appreciate the opportunity to hear from all sides.

Paleobetic Diet provides a great framework for people with diabetes and prediabetes interested in a paleolithic-inspired way of eating. While my own diet is much closer to the one Dr. Parker recommends in The Diabetic Mediterranean Diet (for one thing, I enjoy at least one serving of dairy every day, often more), I understand the potential benefits for people with autoimmune disease or food intolerances. I like his guideline of aiming for 15-20 grams of net carbohydrate per meal, and using a glucometer to assess whether further reduction in carbs is necessary to optimize blood sugar control. He's done a wonderful job summarizing the research on paleolithic diets and constructing his own plan to help people achieve a healthier lifestyle with a decreased risk for complications.

While much of the information contained in the book is available on the Paleo Diabetic website (in fact, the book has links to certain documents that can be downloaded directly from the site at no charge), I highly recommend purchasing the print or Kindle version of Paleobetic Diet for the additional material covered. I'd also encourage you to support the efforts of this low-carbohydrate MD who provides free, high-quality, well-researched informative content on his websites.

This book, detailing the Paleolithic low-carb diet, is designed to lower blood sugar, eliminate or reduce diabetic drugs and to help people lose excess weight. It is the first created diet of this kind for people with diabetes. The Paleobetic diet is designed to lower blood sugar naturally, eliminate or reduce diabetic drugs and help with losing excess weight. Dr. Parker has 3 decades’ experience in practicing Internal Medicine and treating patients with diabetes and prediabetes. His other major areas of interest are weight loss and physical fitness (great chapter on exercise in the book). Dr. Parker has several other books as well worth checking out – all with diabetes, weight loss, low-carbing and the Mediterranean low-carb diet in mind. Several testimonials of eating a low-carb, Paleolithic diet are provided in the beginning of the book and really enthuse one to continue reading.

A shocking fact: “Sugar-sweetened beverages kill almost 200,000 worldwide annually.” These beverages lead to obesity, which in turn leads to diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some cancers. Higher sugar consumption is also implicated in cognitive impairment, often leading to full-blown dementia in the elderly.

The Paleobetic diet is a low-carb diet that is gluten-free, dairy-free, no green beans (this surprised me!), industrial seed oils and artificial sweeteners (stevia is allowed). Vitamin D and calcium supplements may be necessary.

The Components of the diet:

Low-carb eating – recommended: 45 to 80 grams net carbs per day! That’s a very healthy level of carbs for most people. There is a way to optimize knowing exactly how many carbs to consume (for each individual) using a glucometer. This method is expanded on in the book.Some starchy vegetables are allowed in small portions at a time and should be eaten with a main meal, as should fruit, to minimize the effect on blood sugar. Tips for hunger and losing weight are useful reading. Stevia is the sweetener of choice. Search for a good-tasting one! It exists!

Full, easy meal menus for a week (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are outlined with their nutritional analysis. In addition, a few special recipes are provided. Hypoglycemia, the many different types of diabetes drugs (had no idea there were so many!) and how to adjust them are discussed. A new diabetic drug sounds rather exciting and hopeful.

All in all this is an excellent diet, obviously well-researched, and this intelligent doctor with a heart for people with pre-diabetes, diabetes and/or weight problems, lays it all out there for you in easy-to-read format.

About the Author
Dudley Seth Danoff, MD, FACS, is a diplomat of the American Board of Urology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, with a medical degree from Yale University and urologic surgical training and fellowship from Columbia University-Presbyterian Medical Center. He is a former member of the clinical faculty at the University of California-Los Angeles School of Medicine, the founder and president of the Cedars-Sinai Tower Urology Medical Group. Dr. Dudley Danoff's book on male sexual health gives you what you need to live a healthy and more informed life

This is the kind of book all of us need, but might not realize how valuable it is. Yes, Dr. Dudley Danoff's book does discuss sexual health and performance, but if you think it's just about that, then you are missing the majority of its value. What I got from the book is not just the importance of knowing your body but realizing the connection between your feelings and your sexual performance and health. The book really stresses the importance of getting to know what is affecting you mentally and how that impacts the rest of your life.

I also appreciated the importance of knowing what can do harm to the body and affect not just your sexual health but your health overall. Communication is stressed throughout the pages of THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO MALE SEXUAL HEALTH as well as how a healthy appreciation for yourself and your body can help you in other areas of your life.

Though the title might seem provocative the content is definitely worth your time, and might in some ways prove life-saving as Dr. Danoff addresses some of the things men can do to improve their lives.

too boring, or whatever

I wasn't expecting much from this book initially, but was pleasantly surprised at how much it was engaging and pleasant to read. I read a lot for pleasure, and some books I almost dread sitting down to read because they're too long, too boring, or whatever. Not this one! "The Ultimate Guide To Male Sexual Health" by Dr. Dudley Danoff was pretty easy reading, and there were more than a few humorous moments too! Plus a TON of good helpful info for men, especially those of us over age 40 or so. The medical info was explained in terms the average person can understand, and I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know before. Some passages in the book I actually folded down the page to mark and return to later, that's how valuable these topics are! Very highly recommended.

I wasn't really sure that I could ever organize my closet!

I all ways tend to pull every piece of cloth from my wardrobe to find my favorite stockings or matching scarf. I wasn't really sure that I could ever organize my huge pile of clothes in a easily accessible manner. Book one helped me divide my work into simple bits. The tips that I found in the organizing life hacks topic very good in keeping my wardrobe nice and neat. Book two has so many excellent tips to dress and feel good everyday. It helped me learn how to dress myself in chic and fashionable ways. It's a useful set.

I just finished reading this insightful book. I love the way it was written and the interesting information shared about the Matcha Tea and its incredible benefits. I was so happy to hear that Dr. Mariza Snyder had written this book - I had been hearing more about Matcha here and there and wanted to learn from a trusted source. I also didn't want anything that would take a long time to read and figure out. This book does the trick and more! I found the history fascinating and easy to read. The benefits outlined in this book have me motivated to get started using Matcha daily. The use information and recipes let me know how to make the most of this amazing superfood in easy and delicious ways for my whole family! My recommendation? Get this book now!

Having never tasted matcha before and knowing nothing, I picked up this book to help me understand more. Holy cow, I had no idea matcha was such a powerhouse. I learned from this book that matcha is…

This book helped me understand the history of matcha, the benefits, and how to use it properly as a tea and in a variety of ways for breakfast, lunch and snack, and dessert.
So far I've tried the superfood smoothie recipe on pg 28, the matcha chia pudding on pg 38, and the Breakfast Power Balls on pg 41. All three recipes have been easy to make, used ingredients I had on hand, and tasted unique, healthy, and delicious. I am excited to explore this book even more by trying out more recipes and incorporating matcha into my daily life. I plan to make the chocolate matcha shake tomorrow.
