This book is dreadful. It's really a pamphlet, not nearly big enough to be sold as a "book" and not even worth a ninety-nine cent app download. The instructions are written as if English is not the author's primary language, and are confusing, at best. I returned it immediately.

I find this book so helpful. As I purchase this book I was really thinking maybe I can read some tips of this book. But It was beyond my expectation, I am really glad I have came across this book. So I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book, but I actually really do like it.
Cuba is one of the few places I would like to visit, and this tells me so much that I did not know!
You can get all the background you might need by reading this book. It gives you questions and answers, that you may have never known without reading this or talking to someone who is from there, or who has been there.
You learn about famous folks who visited (ie: Columbus and the Pope), you learn about Castro, and everything he has done.
You learn about tourism (which of course, if we go, we are tourists, so this is great :D), and their industries such as tobacco, and sugar cane. While we are known for oil, veggies, etc, Cuba is a large distributor/grower of both sugar cane and tobacco. This is something I never knew before reading this.
This book is small and thin, but it packs a lot of information you might need. It's easy to carry with you when you are traveling as well. I carried it in my purse until I finished reading it!
Overall I recommend this book if you want to learn a bit more about Cuba in a short about of time.

Great intresting book about Cuba

This book may be small but it was packed with lots of info and history about Cuba. What peeked my interest and curiosity about Cuba was, the ban the US put on people, not to travel to Cuba, Guantanamo Bay and the story of Elian Gonzalez. Those are really the only times I've heard about Cuba, so it was interesting to read others things about Cuba, their cultivation of sugarcane. Which helped their economy to grow and be known as Kings of sugar. The whole book kept me intrigued and curious to keep reading about their leader Fidel Castro and also the way they describe Cuba, as island of natural beauty. Makes me want to add it to my list of travels, which can only be through an approved organization. When we think of Cuba we think music and cigars, but there is so much more of Cuba to learn. It's history is very interesting. This book is easy to read. The print easy on the eyes. The book does include some pictures, and some Did you know facts, along some of the pages. Overall I enjoyed reading this book and learning about Cuba. I highly recommend it if you like reading about history. Or even if you want to learn more about Cuba. I did receive this book in an exchange for my honest review. This book even had my husband and I discussing Cuba and what our thoughts were. Hubby said he wants to read it now that I am done with it. Really a great read for anyone.

I really felt that this book covered a lot of information in a short period of time and I would've liked to have seen more parts vetted out a bit more thoroughly, but still overall enjoyed it.
This book is very current and includes the history of political interactions between Cuba and other countries, particularly the US up to and including our current president Obama. It keeps you interested and lays out histories that perhaps you didn't get into back in high school (if you are like many, probably the last time you really thought about the political climate in Cuba). The sort of mobster mentality wasn't shocking to me per se, but still did and I definitely will be looking for more information on this in the very near future.

Made my top 10 list

I finished reading this book a few days ago and I still keep coming back to it for more and more. It's definitely in my top 10 book list - those books I never put away, never put the book jackets back on, the ones I can quote pages number and passages from, the ones I buy for my friends instead of just recommending. A rare find for sure.

As an entrepreneur, I want actionable advice, practical tools, and insights that can really move the needle. This book delivers on all fronts and does so with a humanity that business books always lack. (I wouldn't call this a "business" book though..)

It's introspective but also applicable to both my personal relationships and my business life. I love that it's well structured so I can quickly re-read a section or review a technique. The "Brain Bites" are awesome since I dig cognitive psychology & a little neuroscience. They also show that these guys did their homework when they wrote this book and aren't just making stuff up like all the junky leadership books out there.

I love the Know/Be/Lead paradigm but Part III: Lead was by far the most helpful to me personally. This section probably made me think the most out of any other in the book...I had a ton of ideas for my company, my friends, projects, and other things while reading this... My brain is primed to do some cool things and I've already make some measurable changes in both my personal and professional life.

Bottom Line: This is a killer book that really almost anyone can get a lot out of...a book that you can come back to again and again and learn more from.

A Powerful Journey

The Inside Out Effect has challenged me to put my thoughts, beliefs, goals and aspirations into words - one of the most powerful exercises one can ever do. As a verbal processor, writing things down has never been easy for me. I prefer to talk it out - leaving no evidence behind besides my fleeting verbal conclusions. What I have found to be so profound about this book on my journey of self discovery has been that it has left me with answers tucked away in the pages. Tabrizi and Terrel have an incredible way of providing gentle prompts that facilitate real reflection. There is something so incredible about seeing your own scribbles noting some of the most powerful moments of your life and biggest dreams for your future. I truly believe that by writing these things down I am more likely to adhere to the values that are most important to me, aspire for the things that I want most and live my life in a way that gives me joy. Tabrizi and Terrel facilitate this experience in a way that is warm, open and honest. They provide the baby steps that can lead one to their most inspired state of being. They ask all the right questions at just the right time. I actually got excited thinking about all the things I was truly capable of doing when reading this book. I felt as though I had an outlet to articulate my deepest secrets and biggest desires. I would pass this book along to all my friends, but my own words cover most pages. Instead I will buy them all their own copy. I truly believe that this book facilitates self discovery in a way that comes from so deep within.

As Good As It Gets

Over the last 18 months, as part of a personal journey, I've read several dozen personal and professional development books (everything from Dale Carnegie's classic 'How to Win Friends & Influence People' to Shawn Achor's 'The Happiness Advantage') and every research study on "happiness" I could get my hands on. I now wish I had saved some time and just read this book.

The Inside-Out Effect is more than another leadership book that you passively read and reflect upon. For me, it served as a workbook, journal, and blank canvas as I dove into the messy work of articulating my values and challenging myself to align the hours in my personal and professional life with them. What struck me was how elegantly the book led me through this process of discovery and execution without ever overwhelming me; the journey was broken into manageable but meaningful steps, which were valuable and practical themselves, but (unknowingly to me at times) all leading to a greater goal.

While I'm now a believer in practices such as mindfulness and meditation, and their relevance in both personal and professional settings, I wasn't always. In fact, I was one of the harshest critics before discovering the compelling science behind it. This book is for those who are not yet convinced. While the authors provide a strong case for their techniques and theories, they also anticipate the reader's suspicions and addresses these issues head on. Instead of presuming the reader will take their word at face value, the authors give a balanced perspective and gently push the reader to temporarily suspend disbelief, try it on, and trust his/her experiences.

I just finished the book and, flipping back, most pages are now soaked in my blue-inked chicken scratch. I plan to take a couple days to let it all marinate, and then read my notes over to reflect on what I learned about myself over the last two weeks of reading. This book gives back as much as you put in, and, for me, was the capstone to my personal journey to find the fulfillment and happiness that has been missing in my outwardly successful, but inwardly empty professional life.

This is a book to own and use heavily, for sure.

Understanding the enneagram in consulting is this author’s true craft. Her mastery of various business applications is consistently evident throughout the book. She skillfully presents critical Organization Development concepts/models, helpful diagrams and tables, benchmark enneagram-consulting research findings, pre- and post-checklists, self-assessments, contract examples, innovative and practical client exercises, case studies, and more. It inspired me to deliver my first enneagram workshop, which was terrifically received and built my own confidence both with the enneagram and as a consultant. (As a side note: Being a 4-enneatype, I'm compelled to share my appreciation of the beautiful design and organization of the book, as well…)

Erotic, Educational, and Entertaining

Tops can be such a pain in the ass. And I have absolutely ZERO desire to top. I have tried it and did not like it. I am way too dominate to be a top. So did I walk away with the desire to switch? Hell no. I worked hard to Master the art of Bottoming: I put in years of field time. But I found this book empowering.

Like most gay men, my community seems to desire sex while simultaneously shaming bottoms. Which seems to be sanctimonious, when the best sex involves topping AND bottoming (plus, let’s face it, anal is not for pussies). Having said all that, I never considered the sexual insecurities that may apply for a position that is placed on a pedestal, in the gay community. “How to top like a stud” is a refreshing perception of the challenges that may come with topping.

I sincerely encourage tops, bottoms, versatile: the experienced and inexperienced to read this well-balanced guide.

Just a reread...

I read the How to Bottom like a Porn Star right before this and realized that this book contains 85% of the same information. The author should combine the books if thats the case. However, there is some new stuff in here and some great tips. I did adore the quotes near the beginning of the book concerning different kinds of tops; it got me thinking about the type of I prefer and the type of top I prefer to be, which is inevitably myself. It does have a wonderful section on creating passion which is missing from the bottom book, but it can give the top something else to concentrate on since they don't have to worry about cleaning. Overall, a nice quick read...

An interesting set of routines!

I used to be a distance runner but now I am a full 60lbs hevier (a bodybuilder) and running absolutely demolishes my knees for a day or two after. I have been looking to do some low impact cardio and i think that elliptical workouts might be just the thing! the beginning of the book lays out 4 different ellipttical routines and the second half explains how to focus on different muscles while doing the routines, now for me the second part is irrelevant because no amount of elliptical training is going to do what benching 250 lbs can do but the beginning was good and the second half will be useful to women who want to build a little muscle mass

It was very useful reading as I often do my exercises on this machine. Now I know what other regimes I can use and how to training the better way to have the result. I was also surprised that I can also work on straightening of the spine with this machine, that is very good.
